Blue Lights!

19th Nov 2025

As part of their Crime and Punishment topic, pupils travelled to PSNI Enniskillen and Enniskillen Courthouse.

P7 had the most wonderful and engaging day with Sgt Sheerin and her team at Enniskillen PSNI station. Pupils completed a Q and A with Sgt Sheerin and her colleagues before completing a CSI workshop. They all looked the part as they dressed up in overalls and rubber gloves before examining a mock crime scene. They learned about fingerprints, evidence collection, and various crime scene processes from Davey. Later, pupils had the chance to visit the station’s armoury with a firearms training officer, and they also got to try on some of the different uniforms police wear. All pupils were treated to a short drive in a police car around the station whilst being educated on how officers respond to emergency calls. The class asked some excellent questions and the officers were especially impressed by their knowledge, enthusiasm, and behaviour.

After lunch, we traveled to Enniskillen Courthouse. Lenny (prison officer) and Natalie (court manager) were there to greet us and pupils had the opportunity to sit in a prison transport bus (much like Stanley from their class novel, Holes). The class then entered one of the courtrooms where Lenny delivered a presentation on prison life and Natalie explained how courts run. District Judge McSorley also spoke to the children and completed a quick Q and A. Pupils asked some very thought-provoking questions and Judge McSorley gave some very insightful answers. Pupils then had an opportunity to see the holding cells within the courthouse and to speak to other prison officers.

A very interactive and interesting day which all pupils enjoyed! We now look forward to presenting our new knowledge and favourite points from the trip in our Crime and Punishment non-chronological report over the next few weeks.
