Yesterday, we travelled to the Ulster American Folk Park as part of our class novel work on Twist of Gold.
Pupils have been closely following the story of Sean and Annie as they depart Ireland in the 1840s to go search for their dad in America. We were able to see how the way of life in American and Ireland differed two hundred years ago and how difficult the Atlantic voyage to America was back then. We also managed to squeeze in some lessons in the old school at the Folk Park!
Pupils were treated to a bag of sweets in O'Doherty's shop and all children received a pen, pencil and eraser from the gift shop at the end.
It was a very enjoyable day and we look forward to continuing our novel!
