Math's Week in Primary 4
Primary 4 enjoyed Maths Week Ireland with some exciting and educational activities that brought maths to life in creative ways!
The most enjoyable task of the week was the “3 in a Row” numbers game. Pupils competed against each other to fill rows of 3 counters on their game boards, rolling some dice and using the numbers to complete addition and subtraction, before claiming a spot on the grid. The room buzzed with excitement as children tried to find the right answers, to either win or block their opponent from winning.
Our budding mathematicians also tackled money problem-solving tasks, using coins to solve finding all possibilities tasks. In calculating change, the children showed off their growing confidence in handling money and the many ways different sums of money can be made.
The children also tested their memory skills completing a 2D Shape Memory Game trying to match shapes. This provided an opportunity to discuss the properties of 2d shapes as kids tested their recall and spatial awareness in a fun and interactive way.
Well done to everyone for their engagement and taking part in these fun learning tasks!
