As part of our topic ‘Let’s get growing’ we have been thinking about ways to look after our body. We carried out an experiment to show the importance of looking after our teeth by brushing them twice each day and making healthy choices with the food we eat and drink. We used eggs to represent the enamel on our teeth and added vinegar, coke, coffee, and water to each egg in the cup to see any damage that could be done (over time) to teeth. We made predictions and talked about ways we can make it a fair test (by adding the same amount of liquid into each cup).
This week we are seeing the changes taking place to each egg…accept for one, which we guessed would be the egg covered in water!
As an extra part of our experiment, we covered two eggs with toothpaste and added in coffee and coke to see if they will be better protected. We are excited to see the results!
