Primary 6 thoroughly enjoyed their Titanic-themed day.
They came into school dressed as either a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class passenger. Some of the children were also dressed up as some of the crew members, and we even had our very own Captain Edward Smith. A superb effort by all!
The boys and girls were treated to high tea which was a wonderful experience for all! Great chats were had over the 'dinner' table.
Stephanie Lavery, from Time Steps Living History, visited the school to deliver two fantastic workshops.
The first workshop looked at the background to and the events surrounding the RMS Titanic. Pupils looked at and discussed the year of 1912 and the social and economic factors which led to the building of the Titanic, through major events and the people of that period. Popular theories and myths about its sinking were explored, as was the follow on effects from this tragedy. In the afternoon, the pupils then finished with a second workshop by participating in a competitive boat building workshop.
