'Active Maths' in P6

7th Jun 2022

P6 children made the most of the good weather today by taking their learning outdoors and taking part in some fun active maths. The children took part in mixed class teams  to complete a short obstacle race. Each team timed how long it took for everyone in their team to finish. They added them together, worked out their average and then plotted the points on a scatter graph using PE mats and chalk! The children were so engaged and loved working together in teams to solve the problems !

Here is what some children thought:

'I thought that it was lots of fun and we should do it more often!' Sarah Collins (P6 RB)

'It was a nice experience to get outside and have fun with the other class while still learning.' Julia Walas (P6RB)

'I thought it was really fun doing the races against the other teams. I really liked drawing with the chalk on the mats and making the big graph.' Caoimhe Markey P6 (SMcA)

'I enjoyed today, the races were challenging. The graph activties was really fun and it was really nice to work as a team !' Fausta Mackute P6 (SMcA)
